The innovative thing about this tampon printing system is that it allows the jigs to be interchanged for all the various cover parts used in a mobile phone. This means that all the parts of a mobile phone requiring decoration can be printed on one and the same tampon printing machine using a corresponding number of cycles on the automated system. The parts are held on the interchangeable jig carrier by a vacuum. The printing system may involve up to 5 tampon printing inks. 5 "Hermetic 6-11" tampon printing machines featuring the ink/doctor system patented by Tampoprint are used. These tampon printing machines also have an integrated ink residue pick-up system (patent application submitted) and two other features: A variable tampon stroke and variable doctor pressure (patent applications also submitted). The maximum attainable speed depends on the operator and is up to 1,200 parts an hour. Every tampon printing machine with individual control is monitored by a central PLC control and sits on a x/y cross table, which is used to correctly set the multi-colour tampon print motif.
